The Los Angeles Silent Film Festival Returns for Year Two!
Join us September 11–13, 2026, at the American Cinematheque at the Los Feliz 3 Theatre for the second annual Los Angeles Silent Film Festival, a three-day celebration of silent cinema on the big screen with live musical accompaniment.
Following the tremendous response to our inaugural year, the festival returns with an even more ambitious program of celebrated classics, major restorations, rediscoveries, rarities, and films once believed lost. This year, we celebrate the centennial of 1926, with 100th-anniversary presentations including The Black Pirate, What Price Glory, The Devil’s Circus, Harold Lloyd in For Heaven’s Sake, Ernst Lubitsch’s So This Is Paris, and F.W. Murnau’s Faust. The festival will also feature the world premieres of three new restorations: Help Yourself (1927), The Slanderers (1924), and The Quarterback (1926).

* Live musical accompaniment at every screening by LASFF Musical Director Cliff Retallick and acclaimed guest accompanist Dean Mora
* Leonard Maltin receives the Los Angeles Silent Film Festival’s Silent Film Advocacy Award
* Rare films and rediscoveries presented by leading historians, archivists, preservationists, and filmmakers
* Beyond Silence: Sound Effects, Animation and 3D in the Silent Era, featuring authentic 1920s sound-effects devices, live music, animation, and stereoscopic imagery
* Late-night screenings of The Bat, The Devil’s Circus, and Faust
The Los Angeles Silent Film Festival brings together film lovers, historians, archivists, preservationists, musicians, and newcomers to experience silent cinema not as a relic of the past, but as a vibrant and enduring art form: on the big screen, with live music, and shared with an audience.
