The Los Angeles Silent Film Festival will celebrate the art, aesthetics and history of Silent Cinema.
Explore the universal language of Silent Cinema at the inaugural Los Angeles Silent Film Festival, a weekend extravaganza set against the stunning backdrop of the historic Doheny campus of Mount St. Mary’s University.
Co-sponsored by the Mount Saint Mary's University MFA Program in Film, Television & Photography and Retroformat Silent Films, the festival will launch in Fall 2024 on the historic Doheny campus of Mount Saint Mary’s University in the Rose Hills Auditorium. The festival will also feature outdoor screenings and many more special events.

* Join us for a screening of a beloved Harold Lloyd film, followed by an exclusive Award presentation honoring Suzanne Lloyd for her tireless efforts in preserving the legacy of her grandfather, the iconic Harold Lloyd.
* Celebrate the achievements of Anthony Slide, acclaimed by the legendary Lillian Gish as "our preeminent historian of the silent film," as we present him with a prestigious Award for his scholarship on Silent Cinema. Mr. Slide’s extensive body of work includes authoring over 70 books and editing more than 150 volumes on the history of popular culture.
* Delve into Hollywood's past with captivating presentations on the enigmatic, unsolved murder of director William Desmond Taylor that rocked Hollywood in 1922, and experience two of Taylor's rarely seen cinematic gems on the big screen.
* Explore the rich cinematic history woven into the very fabric of the Mount St. Mary’s Doheny campus and the surrounding University Park neighborhood with a captivating presentation by silent film expert John Bengtson.
* Enjoy the universal appeal of a program of great silent comedies, including Sir Charles Chaplin’s immortal Little Tramp.
